Summer into Autumn
New series of inspired aerial abstract landscapes.
I hope you have had a great summer? In June I worked on our house in Spain, where I host art retreats, followed by a few days in Basel, Switzerland, to explore Art Basel, Vitra, and all our favourite spots after 14 years away. During the five years we lived there I regularly visited Art Basel, one of Europe’s most prestigious art fairs, to spend a few hours gazing at the Picasso's, Matisse or the abstracts of Gerhard Richter in the blue chip galleries and chatting to the curators. The most interesting, and perhaps inspirational, area though is upstairs with the new smaller international galleries promoting emerging artists. There were many paintings by exciting new artists from South America, Africa and Europe. I also spotted several new paintings by Jadé Fadojutimi, a fantastic English artist who has exhibited at The Hepworth in Wakefield and represented the UK at the Venice Biennale.
Fired up and back in the studio I am painting like crazy to meet a deadline of mid-October but you will get to see this new series of paintings first as they progress. I’m truly excited about this latest collection, inspired by the art, light and colour of Spain, Italy, Switzerland and England.
Hot off the press! - I am thrilled to let you know that the first painting above (85 x 105cm) has already been Long Listed in the ArtEvoI2025 international art exhibition at the Saatchi Art Gallery, London.
