Dawn Rising
This painting on plaster and paper was made during a residency in Andalucia to explore three dimensions. It is mounted in a handmade frame of lime-washed ash to add depth and separate it from the background.
Exploring the relationship with nature, pattern and print this series, Wonder, draws on sketches and watercolours made while extensively travelling through Asia, Europe and Australia. Screen printing and block printing capture the traditional patterns found in specific regions which are often applied to silk weaving with natural dyes. In many cases, brushstrokes repeat these rhythmic vertical and horizontal lines.

32 x 42 x 3 cm float mounted in a lime-washed wooden frame, glazed.
