The Rainforest Series - Solo Show

These two are called Rainforest I and II and create the context for the series. Although they relate to each other they also read well on their own. Drawing on the feeling of becoming immersed in the rainforest with shafts of sunlight filtering through the tree canopy above, these two were such a joy to work on.

The Rainforest Series celebrates the natural environment, in particular our rainforests, and the need for protection of this valuable ecosystem. Abstract landscapes and botanical paintings place you, the viewer, within this environment, capturing the sense of place and feeling whilst engaging with the message behind the work. Rather than replicating the landscape these paintings rely on the metaphorical, patterning, and semi-abstract, each a visual poem informed by sketches, watercolours and memories.

This was the first in the series incorporating traditional screen printing and block printing pattern.
